Ingredients
- ¼ cup yellow moong dal
- 1.5 cups water
- ¼ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp ghee
- Pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- Minimal salt (omit for under-1)
Instructions
- 1Wash moong dal and soak for 15 minutes.
- 2Pressure cook with water, turmeric, and salt for 3 whistles.
- 3Blend or mash until smooth (or leave with texture for older children).
- 4Heat ghee in a small pan, add hing and cumin seeds.
- 5When cumin splutters, pour over the dal and stir.
- 6Adjust consistency with water. Serve warm.
