Ingredients

  • ½ cup moong dal (yellow lentils)
  • ½ cup basmati rice
  • 1 medium carrot, diced
  • ½ cup peas
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 2.5 cups water
  • Salt to taste (minimal for toddlers)

Instructions

  1. 1Wash rice and dal together until water runs clear.
  2. 2Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and let splutter.
  3. 3Add vegetables and sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. 4Add rice, dal, turmeric, and water. Mix well.
  5. 5Pressure cook for 3–4 whistles until soft.
  6. 6Mash slightly for younger children. Serve warm.
